Eurax (crotamiton) is an antiparasitic medicine that kills certain parasites which live on the skin or lay eggs in the skin.
Crotamiton’s antiparasitic effect is linked to disruption of ionic permeability through sodium channels and inhibition of repolarization of the insect nerve cell membrane, which leads to paralysis. After cutaneous application, absorption is not more than 2%.
Possible side effects include burning or stinging, tingling, numbness, increased itching, erythema, and allergic reactions such as skin rash or swelling.
