This medicine is available over the counter (OTC) to treat vaginal yeast infections. Use it carefully and follow the directions for best results.

Contact a doctor if your symptoms get worse, do not improve within 3 days, or last longer than 7 days.

What this medicine is for

This vaginal cream contains clotrimazole, an antifungal medication used to treat vaginal yeast infections (vaginal candidiasis). It also helps relieve external itching and irritation caused by a yeast infection.

Thrush is a common infection caused by a yeast (fungus) that can live harmlessly in the vagina. In some situations, it can overgrow and cause symptoms that may spread to the surrounding area.

Symptoms may include one or more of the following:

  • Itching in the vagina and surrounding area (the vulva)
  • Redness and swelling of the tissues of the vagina and vulva
  • Soreness of the vagina and vulva
  • White vaginal discharge

Thrush is not usually considered a sexually transmitted infection, but it can sometimes be passed to a partner during vaginal intercourse. If your partner develops symptoms, they should speak with a healthcare professional.

Before you use this medicine

Do not use:

  • If you have never had a vaginal yeast infection diagnosed by a doctor
  • If you are allergic to any of the ingredients

Ask a doctor before use if you have:

  • Vaginal itching and discomfort for the first time
  • Lower abdominal, back, or shoulder pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, or foul-smelling vaginal discharge (you may have a more serious condition)
  • Vaginal yeast infections often (such as once a month or 3 in 6 months)
  • Been exposed to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)

When using this product

  • Do not use tampons, douches, spermicides, or other vaginal products
  • Do not have vaginal intercourse
  • Condoms and diaphragms may be damaged and may not prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • You may notice a mild increase in vaginal burning, itching, or irritation
  • If you do not get complete relief, ask a doctor before using another product

If pregnant or breast-feeding

Ask a healthcare professional before use.
